There’s nothing more wonderful than the aroma of fresh blood oranges on a hot summer’s day. One of my happiest traveling memories is sitting under a canopy of fruiting trees in a sweet little Sicilian mans grove reading a book and sipping on some fresh squeezed juice. One of my favourite Italian destinations to soak up wide cobblestone pathways upon seaside towns with glistening poetic fountains in small courts filled with stalls of fresh fruit, art and artisanal gifts. The countryside air is never more beautiful in the springtime than when it is filled with the scent of the native Sicilian blood orange, the Tarocco, with its bright almost pink flesh it's known by the locals as the queen of the oranges.
