Character
A dark cherry colour with a rich malty aroma and lingering flavours synonymous with Assam teas prevail.Story
The Halmari Estate is located in the upper plains of the Assam region where it has been producing some of the highest quality leaf teas in the region for more than 100 years. Halmari Estate teas frequently break records for the Assam region for the prices their first and second harvest receive at auction each year.
In Assam, unlike Darjeeling and Nilgiri, tea is grown in the lowlands areas in the floodplains of the Brahmaputra River a region known for the minerals in its rich, clay soils. Despite the loacal climate being perfect for growing tea with a cool, arid winter season and a hot, humid and rainy summer season early attempts to introduce Chinese Yunnan style tea plants to the region failed and it wasn;t until the discovery of local, wild growing tea plants that the first commercial gardens were established.
