Character

A full, lively cup with floral notes and citrus accents, fit for a summer garden tea, bringing the party to the cup. Perfect for anyone who finds Earl Grey a little overpowering.

Story

We’ve named this tea in honour of the nine day queen, Lady Jane Grey. Hers is a strange and sad tail; her Uncle, 15 year old King Edward the 4th, named her as his successor on his death bed however the 16 tear old Lady Grey begrudgingly held the de facto monarchy for a mere nine days in July 1553 before the Privy Council proclaimed Edwards half sister Mary to be the true Queen of England and convicted the young Lady Grey of treason. Six months later she was executed with her husband as a result of h of her father; Henry Grey the 1st Duke of Suffolk’s failed attempt to lead an uprising against Queen Mary. Lady Grey had received a classical education and was considered a learned young woman for the day having studied history and the arts extensively svely so it is unfortunate that such an intelligent and thoughtful young woman must remain a footnote in the history books
