Intense black currant flavour and aromas permeate this incredible blend that is perfect for iced teas.
Creating flavoured teas is a balancing act that requires three components working in harmony. Firstly we select the right base tea to complement the flavour being sought. In the case of our newest creation, Black Currant, the base is actually a seasonal blend of Ceylon grown Orange Pekoes from the high mountain estates of the Dimbula, Nuwara Eliya and Uva regions. The leaves of Ceylon teas are perfect for many flavoured teas as the aroma and character is much less intrusive to the end result than lean leaves grown in many other regions. Next we use natural flavouring oils to infuse the leaves with the desired taste. By using natural oils rather than artificial flavours the result has a clean, true character. Finally we choose a range of complimentary fruit and floral ingredients to give an extra dimension to both the look as well as the taste of a flavoured tea. Here a mix of blues comes from the bright petals of the cornflower blossom and the darker, purplish colour of the mallow flowers offs offset against the bright yellow splash of sunflower petals.
